I read this to my class.

My second grade class illustrated the poem.

One way to help me heal and share good times.

I hope something changes
I am in need of a new moon
(job that pays)
I know I have one thing
that matters most
someone who loves me

friendship is priceless
the moon is priceless
and a job would be great too

quiet times of things that
create smiles on your face
and all you know is now

eventhough the abuse has
taken so much from us
finding ourself and
seeing the good inside
and being loved

somehow making life
good again despite the
abuse.

It is comming up my 10 th annaversary of reg on this site, I found it sometime in 2000 and reg in 2001.

I have met many great men here and this site has helped a great deal in my recovery.

This poem shows what we needed, so I send this message with love and know that men here care.

Hey Michael Joseph,

Just read your post about having your second grade class illustrate your poem. I wanted to let you know that I teach too (private teaching practice) and have many young ones I work with. Would love to correspond more about how teaching feeds your recovery. I teach reading/writing/speaking/critical-creative thinking to folk from Kindergarten-12th Grade. My inner kids love to read to the younger set especially--not to mention play learning games! I try to position the learner at the center of the teaching transaction, rather than curriculum as I find it helps skill process development because learning is much more fun then.

Oh, I just posted my first piece here in this forum: The Necessity of Bottoms. It's personal narrative, but this seemed like the right place to post it. Let me know what you think about it if you get a chance.

well they did not understand where I was when I wrote that poem but I still have there version of this poem.

So much can be done with children's books and helping children learn lessions to help them thru life.
