how do i get a picture by my name?
is it based on the number of posts that one has made?

Go into "My Profile" then go into "View/Update Profile" Look for where it says "Avatar Image" then click "Select a Different Avatar Image." This will bring you to several pages of cool avatars aka "the picture by my name."  Just select one and it's yours. You can change it later if you want, as I recently did. I could be wrong but I don't think there's a required number of posts for having an avatar. If so it's probably 30 and you're almost there. Try it and see if you want. Happy hunting! Victor

Marc is right it's based on the number of posts.
Been so long & so many posts ago I forgot! But I checked & once you exceed 30 posts your user status will change from "New Here" to "Guest" (or
"Member" if you choose to join) and you will be able to select an avatar.
You're almost there now my friend!

It works as described above. I had more than 30 posts but less than 45 and it worked for me.
