This movie is one of my all-time favorites. It stars Kieran Culkin, Elden Henson, James Gandolfini, Sharon Stone, Gillian Anderson, Harry Dean Stanton, and Gina Rowlands. It even has an appearance by Meatloaf. Kind of an all-star cast, yet I don't remember it doing that well when it first came out.
It's a story set in Cincinnati about a young crippled genius and the big, silent, abuse survivor he befriends. The smaller boy (Kieran Culkin) teaches the bigger boy (Elden Henson) about the strength and nobility within him.
Don't watch it alone if you are easily triggered, as it has some violent scenes. But if you watch it with someone you love and trust, you will make it through and be absolutely inspired. I actually plan to buy this one.
My name is Joe. I am a survivor and a good man. You can count on me.
"[Insert your name here], I am [Chain Breaker]. Do you see that I am your friend? Can you see that you will always be my friend?"
