Rob,
As we begin to face our issues, at first all we feel is pain and distress as we relive what was done to us. In many cases we are releasing feelings we have buried for years, and as all that floods out it really REALLY hurts...as if I need to remind you.
But at the same time, Rob, we also begin to see and understand the huge impact that CSA has had on us. We begin to understand that so many of the bad feelings we have been carrying for years about ourselves are just NOT TRUE. That in itself encourages us to challenge the old, broken dysfunctional ways in which we used to view ourselves. We learn that we can empower ourselves, that our feelings and needs DO count, that we have talents and merits - personally and professionally, and that it isn't our task to tolerate a lot of unreasonable crap.
This is the foundation of the confidence we need for our recovery, and I think what's happening is that you are beginning to develop this foundation and use it in your own life. Pretty cool!
