another good movie more modern and maay be alot mor triggering but is very good and shows what is missing in a loth of boys lives today
its called "Manhood" with John Writter- one of his last movies ever , I think

Logan,
I have seen "Stand By Me" several times and I loved it each time and saw things in it I had previously missed. I don't know "Manhood", but will search around for it now that you give it the thumbs up.

If you liked the movie, Stand By Me, you might want to consider reading the Stephen King novella on which it is based, The Body. I had seen the movie first, and reading the novella just enhanced the experience. It is found in a collection of four novellas, entitled, Different Seasons. If you're worried about reading a Stephen King book, don't worry about this one. It's not horror.

ok i know this post is kinda old but i watched this movie last night.
for months i havnt been able to watch, read, or listen to anything that might be possibly triggering so i was really surprised to watch this movie and be alright afterwards. There were a few parts were i tensed up for a while but over all i was okay and i watched the whole thing without stopping it so im kinda proud of myself for that. anyways though i really thought it was a good movie about life in general. but it was sad.

Stand by Me is on my list of 5 best movies ever.
I've seen it two dozen times.
And the all-star cast...Kiefer Sutherland, John Cusack, River Phoenix, Corey Feldman, Wil Wheaton, Richard Dreyfuss and Jerry O'Connell...
No one had ever heard of any of those guys back then....except, of course, Dreyfuss.
