I love yoga, although I'm just a beginer. It is very relaxing and stress reducing. I use it to calm myself down after I get off from work and its very effective. I thinkit all about the breathing techniches combinden withing the sretching as awas to relax tight muculs where I store alot of my tension and anxiety.

I highly recomend it. For anyone that wants to aleviate some stress from there life.

Yes that is close, yoga means integration or bring together in closest translation. Bringing together of all that we are, and also our integration with our divine self.

Asanas or yoga postures are other seven parts constitute the eightfold Yoga path to self realisation. Other few sides are Meditation, and Pranayama or breathing exercises, but to be really successful it has to be done in its true sequence beginning with Right Living.

i have been practicing yoga for 2 years
self taught from dvd's, books borrowed from the library & YouTube videos
have meant to go to a class, get some in the flesh instruction & gulp... touch guidance to deepen the pose
but I am a huge isolator
& the most I have been touched by anyone in these 2 years has been by my tattoo artist
but that might be another post

the earth spins at 20,000+ miles per hour & we are on a 23.5 degree angle relative to its surface
(told you I was a science geek in a previous post)
add walking, running, stomping out of a room in anger, sleeping restlessly etc
is it any wonder we get so "bent out of shape"?
add our emotional experiences & kaBOOM!

been dissociated/disconnected for most of my life
I HAVE to believe in the possibility of "rightness" in something, the safeness of my location for want of a better term
& what better place to start than with the structure that supports our being
bones & joints have positions for optimal movement, relaxation & rejuvenation
yoga, like Feldenkrais, Pilates & the Alexander technique teaches these positions

yoga is also non competitive & can be practiced by anyone regardless of age or physical abilities
something about that inclusiveness combined with feeling part of a heritage... a lineage dating thousands of years
lets just say my "earth" family is more comforting than my "birth" family

i wanted to bump mgb's original post back into "existence" to hear others experiences, thoughts & philosophies

namaste

I attend a yoga class from time to time and I particularly like the focus on breathing and being present in the moment. It has also helped me to rediscover my body and to just quiet my mind. Outside of yoga I can't think of an activity of time of the day where I can just be.
