I agree with Jerrad. Although possessing child porn is a very bad thing, it could also be an abuse survivor who is trying to identify with his experiences. This is where it gets so "ify". There was this huge thread on porn that got a bit out of hand.

Often, as we go from victim to survivor mode, our "acting out" behaviors have led us to porn- which some of us have used to re-victimize and re-stimulate events from our original abuse. This is a fact that happens more often than not.

A criminal molester who actually abuses children should be getting a sentence like that.

Still, there is a side of me that likes the major punishment, while it fights with me that a non-recovering abuse survivor could get caught in a trap like that.

Geeze, what to think? I thinks its too harsh a sentence. But what do I know.

I know this is an old thread but I can't understand how anyone could say "he didn't actually abuse a kid, it was just porn." I agree with Muldoon, the producers of porn abuse kids, so that the receivers can "enjoy" it. The fact those pictures are floating around re-abuses the victim every time they think about it, or worse have to see it. How sad is that and some people say it's just porn. No, it is hurt branded on someone's life and keeps getting reapplied every time the picture is shared.

2007 when this thread was started I was still a kid being abused by a guy who was taking pictures and videos of me and sharing them with the whole internet. I would love him to have got 200 years. I can't remember exactly but it was really pathetic the sentence he did get. Something like 2 years for making them and 18 months for distrubuting them. And that was to be served concurrently (i think thats the right word?) with the rest of his sentence. Do you think that's enough? Because I don't. My pictures will be on the internet and on people's hard drives maybe forever. Like even when I'm dead they'll still be there. I can't even search for them and try and get them taken down because then i'd be arrested. (And I wouldn't want to look at them anyway)

I've heard people say loads of stupid things about it just being porn and totally forgetting about the fact some kid had to be abused to make it. I don't even like calling it porn, because its not. Its pictures of kids being abused. I can't really let my mind think too much about it or I will go insane. I do feel re-abused thinking about people looking at my picture. If people look at me in public I always think they're thinking "hey isnt that the kid from those kiddie porn videos?" I know I don't look like that kid now, but it makes me want to grow a big amish style beard and just hide forever. My girlfriend complains she doesn't have any pictures of me. I have a camera now so I'm the one taking pictures, but I feel weird and voyeuristic with it. So yeah, those people who say looking at pictures isn't the same as abusing someone, you're wrong. How can you ever put this thing to rest when evidence of it is continually circulating around for people to "enjoy".

I'm going to have to say that 200 years for possession of KP is disproportionate, unless the authorities more or less knew he was abusing children himself and were trying to save a victim or victims from having to testify in a molestation trial or something like that. Yeah, there is probably "more than meets the eye" here. KP possession should be a crime and everything but a lot of people don't get 200 year sentences for first-degree murder, let alone for beating off to pictures of naked kids on the internet. When it comes to actual producers of child porn, the people behind the camera, I don't really see ANY sentence as being to harsh. That means up to and including dangling from the end of a rope. (Not that we execute people in that fashion anymore but you get my point.)



Child porn isn't a money maker at all. I know I've heard media reports that child porn is a "billion dollar industry" or something like that but any such report is probably just pure sensationalism. That doesn't mean KP isn't a problem and isn't prolific on the internet. It is, and it needs to be fought as much as possible. KP is evil, sick, abusive and wrong. Please don't think I'm minimizing any of that. It's just the money part that I think isn't true. In fact, I'd be willing to bet that >90% of KP consists of movies and pictures taken by random perps, of children they are abusing, which they then upload on the internet for other pervs to download and share for free. That doesn't make it any less heinous, that just means there is no real "industry" there. There may have been a viable commercial child porn industry 20+ years ago but I think that's mostly been stamped out. Could be wrong about that but I don't think I am. All that being said, I suppose when it comes to the harm KP causes it's victims, the amount of money made or lack there of is neither here nor there.

Not so! I was abused in the making of kiddie porn. He took the movies while boys "performed". I was one of the boys. I was very young. It caused tremendous damage to me:

Dissociative disorder (this alone was a huge problem)
Depersonalization disorder
Life-long problems in socializing with others
Depression
Sexual problems
Led to being abused at other times
Low self esteem
Reading problem - Dyslexia
ADHD - type of problem

It started about 70 years ago. It went on for about 7 months about once per week. Nobody noticed or interrupted. I'm still working at getting over it. So!! What was my sentence? 70 years? How many boys were abused by that guy with me? 3. So, what is 4 X 70 = 280 years
