Fined Man Says He'll Miss Jogging Nude
AP
SAN JOSE, Calif. (Feb. 16) - A man whose habit of jogging in a park wearing nothing but a pair of running shoes said he would keep his clothes on after he was fined $95 for indecent exposure.

Darryl Delacruz, a Silicon Valley engineer, said he would miss the "liberating feeling" of running naked in Fremont Older Open Space Preserve. But he conceded his personal comfort was less important than the discomfort he caused others.

"I'll go back, but I'll be wearing clothes," he said. "I don't want people to have the wrong impression."

After other park users complained about Delacruz streaking, park rangers kept an eye out for him and finally caught him in the buff Jan. 9. People are allowed to sunbathe naked in the park, but only out of eyeshot of others.

"We don't see it as appropriate behavior," said Kerry Carlson, president of the Midpeninsula Rangers Peace Officers Association. "A significant number of people feel uncomfortable with a nude person running around."

Delacruz, 43, said his preferred jogging attire was "about getting in touch with nature, not meeting people."

Mark,

why does the man have to go out jogging with no clothes on to get in touch with nature surely nature is all around him. so he could walk around his house in the nude. he should invest in some trees and shrubs for his living room and throw a few wild animals in for good measure \:\) then he is in touch with nature.

i dont like the idea of people being in the nude outside.

the whole idea of it is really californian

to me

nude outside -

publicly it is weird

i've done the beach nude a few times - only - it is a kind of strange - but ok

but i think the point of this article may be - what this man wanted

versus what other people wanted -

and how he adjusted his behaviour - to avoid - putting others in discomfort

it's ok you don't like people outside nude

you don't have to do it

or go there -

to say that no one should be able to because you don't like it -

well... what do you think?

i like nature -

but - i have never made it a - hobby of naturism

specifically to me -

i think joggin in the nude - would hurt like crazy -

moreso

after the fact - eh?
