Okay, I hope this doesn't sound too corny, but I decided to purchase Nick Lachey's What's Left of Me CD, basically because I think J. Simpson is a real loser for leaving him, and I wanted to support his music. I hope he gets over her and never takes her back (Uh-oh I think my celebrity crush is showing).

I have gradually been noticing that these "heartache" and "getting over you" songs are helping me to tune into my own personal grief due to the loss of my childhood innocence. I have been finding a certain amount of strength to continue my recovery in several of the songs on his CD.

Here is a track listing, it should give you an idea of how it could apply:

What's Left Of Me
I Can't Hate You Anymore
On Your Own
Outside Looking In
Shades Of Blue
Beautiful
Everywhere But Here
I Do It For You
Run To Me
Ghosts
You're Not Alone
Resolution

I thought it was worth mentioning, although I am a LITTLE embarassed by it, but then again who gives a crap... whatever helps counts.

cbfull,

Do not feel embarassed. You must continue to use songs to help you heal. Have you ever tried listening to classical music? Bach, Gustev Holtz etc...

CB,

Please keep expressing all you need and want to -

I read this post yesterday - and it didn't register to me -

but I woke up a short while ago

and there's like this internal battle and discomfort

within me right now -

and the post 'spoke to me' more -

Definitely - I should look at music for more of it's healing qualities -

Thanks -

Mgb

On first glance, they just seem like breakup songs, but if you listen to the words they can directly address your pain as a survivor of CSA.

It also helps that it is a male voice.

Try some Jack Johnson - my inner self reverberates.
