Can I learn to say I love you.
After all the things you do?
Can I learn to accept you for who you are?
Or should I stay in the shadows afar?

Sometimes I think I like the things you do.
Being friendly with people every day.
People wanting to hear what you have to say.
But can I learn to say I love you?

Maybe you should let go of the issues in your past.
Maybe its time to have a blast.
Afterall life is there to live.
Do you know you have so much to give.

Will you give me the chance to learn to love you?
To ensure not all your days are blue.
What happened to you is really not your fault.

Turn away from the mirror and believe in yourself.
Lift your head up high
because you do not need to be ashamed any more,
and then learn to fly.
Learn to love and adore.

Giving one's self permission to love one's self is probably the most difficult struggle I have ever faced. This is one beautiful poem, thanks for posting it.

Today the question is again so prominent in my mind. Will I ever learn to love myself and be able to look in the mirror without these feelings of hate and disgust?

Once again, I am bowled over! This is an awesome poem.

I believe that learning to see yourself as lovable starts with treating yourself as though you were. Some say "fake it until you make it." That's the right idea, but it's not fake at all. Good self-care teaches us that we are worthwhile.
