Some members like the new layout, and others would love the simplicity of the old boards.
It takes me ages to adjust to new formats, and I guess others have the same idea judging by the lack of posting.

My biggest criticism is the dark blue banner, which was better when it was powder blue, it is too dark and foreboding.
C'mon guys an easy thing to change.

I hope the other guys can find their way around, but change is always a big thing in this type of forum,

My first impression isn't that great either, but I'm going to keep quiet until they have the bugs worked out. I agree on the colours though. Too gloomy.

I love this format. It is more like what I am used to.

ok, i know this is the guys' side of the forum, but considering the topic, which is not on fnf's side -

i find this style very difficult to view, the other style was better because you could see all the replies at once, here is more difficult

also the columns on the left side are taking up too much space, limiting the viewing area.

as for the colors, yes, the old colors were also easier on the eye for some reason, the dirty-water color yellow w/murky blue font is really hard to read. the dark blue at the top just doesn't do anything positive for the website either i think.

ok, only my 2 cents worth won't post over here again pardon moi

The old one was more... clear i guess, easier to view.
This seems more.. busy, there's so much to see.
The old one was easier to oversee.
But, we get used to it soon enough and probably then it wont matter much anymore.
Atm i still like the old one better.

Are there different post indicators that would stand out more when there are new posts?

If not, can you use them? It is possible for me to make some...

I think it's great. Big improvement over the previous forum. It looks more like a real forum now.

All things considered, I really like the new format. Great job guys.

I agree with Dewey that the new post indicators need to be a good deal more visible. Other than that, I like it. We'll see how it goes as I start using it more.

The new chatroom is awesome!

Lots of love,

John

you can turn off the left column if you prefer.

Go to "my stuff", "my preferences", and answer yes or not to the question "turn off left column"

I will see what we can do about the post indicators....

thanks,
brent.

Much better without the left column \:\)

Still, brighter new post indication would be great.

I like the new format, and like any new formats some debugging is necessary. I tried to update my profile and it wanted me to reduce my signature to 100 characters or less. Mods, can this be bumped up to say, 250, to preserve our existing sig lines?

I wish we could still the first couple of sentences of a post to know whether we want to open it up and read it or not....and I agree that the top banner is too dark and gloomy, serious, in-your-face, not like the older softer, more approachable one. \:\)

sorry - i know how much work went into this -

i just think this is far too complex - and

nuanced than needed -

i think our resources could have been better spent
i don't understand the priority here - either

when i am emotional the last thing i want to do is deal with something this complex -

It was a shock at first, but soon worked it out. It was strange at first seeing real photographs of people here, however I've now uploaded one of my own (once I managed to reduce it to the required size - at least I learned something new today - how to reduce a photograph to 9% of it's original file size).
