i have heard of the mental health day - people take now and then -

but it seems like - it should be a regular thing -

i jokingly made a slogan for a canadian psychological association - if their is such a thing -

it's:

" oh just ignore your mental health...it'll go away"

so i am trying to make it conscious - how to keep me healthy - and not so 'blown out'

i go to the gym - 4 days a week -

i do all my chores - and keep things running -

but i gotta take care of my self too -

and for me - that would be stopping and

just doing healthy non pushing stuff for my mind!

\:\) for maybe once a week - ?

Mark,

You make an excellent point that more of us - including me! - need to take more seriously. If we are worthwhile guys after all, that means we need not only to heal but also to take care of what we already have. So many of us have caved in on that one, and I comment here because it applies so completely to myself.

Much love,
Larry

good - I agree -

It seems I treat my things and everything I do like it could be broken or suffer -

well - look in the mirror -

eh?

not just moisturizer is needed - everyone has baggage -

and even baggage has to be cleaned out after a trip! \:\)

i am happy with that metaphor

I suppose it's completely individual of course it is - but

since therapy is not always possible - and sometimes puts a lot of pressure and fear -

up

I decided to create moments of do nothing -

lying on the carpet in a sunny window -

or sitting in my old green edwardian chair and just staring out the window watching the snow fall - !

or walking - to the park

whatever - I am just relaying thoughts - and ideas -

Mark,

Yeah, I've got an idea or two. Don't know if they're right, but then I know you will only take them for what they're worth. You're talking about being gentle with yourself, which is a most excellent form of self-care. It's easy to beat ourselves up for being this, that, or the other thing we don't like about ourselves, but it is less easy to be good to ourselves, to do things like curling up when we need to, or walking in the park.

I like to curl up in a nice chair, myself. You even prompted me to post a picture, 'cuz it's a great chair, and it's by one of my favorite plants, and there's a sunny window (when there's a sun out, that is), and a carpet, and, well, peace.

Here's where I posted the pic: http://malesurvivor.org/cgi-local/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=51&t=000062

Mark, take good care of yourself. You really deserve it.

John
