Hello to all,

I recently joined here as I am in counseling for dealing with past childhood sexual abuse issues. I don't feel 100% comfortable with my therapist especially in light of recent events.

These events have me rather concerned because of an evaluation that my therapist administered. if anyone has questions feel free to ask.

Sean

Check out "A Consumer's Guide to Therapist Shopping" on this website to see if your therapist is doing what s/he should be doing.

Sean,

Here's the link to Ken's article, in case you don't see how to find it:
http://www.malesurvivor.org/Professionals/Articles/consumer.htm

It really is a good guide to what to watch out for. Are there specific points you are concerned about? If so, go ahead and ask about them. So many of us have Ts and will be happy to respond to your concerns.

Much love,
Larry

Thank you, In reference to my original post the therapist I am currently seeing has experience working with predators from a variety of experience. The evaluation that I was referencing is one commonly used to determine sexual deviation. This evaluation is the ABEL Screen. I am not sure if anyone here has been through that evaluation.
If you have questions, feel free to ask.

Sean,

So what is it about this evaluation that is troubling you? I am no T, but I find it difficult to take to seriously screenings or tests that seek to compare sexual preferences or modes of behavior like one would grade beef or assess the size of eggs.

Much love,
Larry
