I wish I could say more, or give you some magic that will make it better, but I can't. It sucks. It will ALWAYS suck.
Be sure to take care of yourself as well as him. You will do nobody any good if you collapsed.

Jake just be there for him. Let him know it is ok and that you are there.
If he is dying then I pray for you both that it is peaceful and that you both know in your hearts the love of a brother.
