Harboring anger at another is like drinking the glass of poison yourself and then expecting him to die.

I heard that said yesterday by someone I'm acquainted with. She attributed it to someone but I don't remember who and I don't know if I've quoted it exactly right. I have to admit that that is one of my struggles as well as many of us as survivors. It comes in many forms to the point where we may not even recognize it as anger. I was discussing this with a friend of mine this morning who graciously pointed out that fact to me. Now I have a good deal more to think about. Ah well! We keep on keeping on! Lots of love, John

" I have come to the frightening conclusion that I am the decisive element. It is my personal approach that creates the climate. It is my daily mood that makes the weather. I possess tremendous power to make life miserable or joyous. I can be a tool of torture or an instrument of inspiration. I can humiliate or humor, hurt or heal. In all situations, it is my response that decides whether a crisis is escalated or de-escalated, and a person is humanized or de-humanized. If we treat people as they are, we make them worse. If we treat people as they ought to be, we help them become what they are capable of becoming."
