every few times - i run a load of laundry -

even though - i wash clothes every day -

and have the machine in my condo -

it seems a sock invariably dissapears -?

what theory explains this phenomenon?

oh they show up eventually somewhere down the line -

and on the odd odd blue moon are completely

never to be heard from again.... ! lol!

what is this?

is there some wild instinct within them to escape?

or are the timetravelers off to the dimension of

the universe to meet up with jabba the hut!

I have wondered about that. I thought for a long time that the problem was my sock-thieving kids, so I bought 18 pairs of identical black socks. Didn't help.

Then I discovered the culprit. 4'9" nose to tail, 50 kilos, black and tan, very playful, and uncanny radar for socks!!!

I think there is also something built into socks that makes them transfer to another dimension as soon as we aren't looking. The moon isn't made of green cheese, it's made of socks.

I'm convinced after 49 years of observing this particular phenomenon, that there is a place somewhere in an alternate universe where these errant socks are all sitting around laughing at us, then on random days they all go out into the great unknown with the assignment of liberating another of their comrades. It's like the snowball effect. One of these days there will be more of them than there are of us and we will never see another sock ever in this life.

That's my theory, and I think I'm right. You just wait and see!

Maybe there are antimatter socks that are drawn to the gravitational vortex created by the spin cycle? These "anti-socks" cancel out the "real" socks.

That would explain all the static in my laundry!
