right now, I live in the area of Dorchester, Mass. - (Pope's Hill) to be exact -

The area of Dorchester - at large -
is not considered the greatest - but there are lots of nice young families here - and yes
there is a scarier element down by the subway stop.

I live closer to the nice families. Thank goodness.

I live in an apartment - in an old Victorian era structure -- I love it! and luckily it is so affordable ...

I love it for the form is true to the Victorian intellect - it's not only - got a great pragmatic structure - it flows - it has ample space - and such 'feel good details' - it's comfortable but structured.

It's got very tall ceilings - a separate entry/mud room, a porch - glass french doors (original) which lead to the living room -
wtih a large wood burning fire place -

that has an archway connecting into a really ample dining room - with oak casings all over - a built in buffet and display cabinet in the same oak wood -
This leads back to a small hallway - that connects the two bedrooms - a decent full bathroom - and a small - but nice - eat in kitchen - with a 'walk in' 'butler's pantry' and windows all around...

these places were made for everything you need -

it's great - the closets could be bigger - but back then they had armoirs mostly I think -

it's got good linen storage -
and a great use of natural light -

it's about 1100 sq feet -

and in other parts of the city -
a studio apartment would be as much as this one is.

it's wild - how great this space is.

plus the landlords are a couple of very nice Irish grandparents - whose grandkids come over on Sundays - They live upstairs - they're very nice and caring to us - and you can hear the kids - rambling back and forth across their apartment - first laughing-then crying - then laughing again...

I love it.
