It's time once again for....(cue music)...SCOT'S PICK O' THE WEEK!

(Applaud now, if you please! :p )

Hellboy (Available now - Universal DVD/VHS)

Yep, another movie. And yes, it's a superhero movie. But they've been all so darn GOOD lately that it's hard not to name one. The reason I've picked this one is that it's so offbeat, terrifically funny, sometimes poignent, and great thanks tot the actors involved. Particularly Ron Perlman in yet another costume. This time, he's neither sentimentally romantic or darkly evil. He's a working-class demon brought to this world by Nazis, but adopted by a kindly professor who shows him the value of humanity.

This would be a beauty-and-the-beast/fish-out-of-water story except that Perlman plays Hellboy like a regular fella. That is, if the regular fella was 8 feet tall with red skin, snapped-off horns, and a prehensile tail. He smokes, he drinks, he's a slacker, and he solves monster problems quickly with his big-@$$ gun. No brave battle-cry for him, no! He chases off the monsters with a snide "ah, crap!"

Good to chase the blues away, and if you want a little thought to go with it. Highly recommended!

Peace and love,

Scot

To paraphrase your quote, it's subtle nuances would be lost on me! I am not one who enjoys fantasy or science-fiction kind of movies. Oh well!

I don't like so much the super heroes movies. But I did see some movies two weeks ago that was good I think. We rent some movies to watch, me and some people I live with. One of them just is stupid, but some of it is funny. I think someone who know English better would like it more, I think the people we were watching with who know English better liked it more. But one I liked, it is called 'Cheaper by Dozen'. Some of it is funny, but some of it, it is nice feel of family. And then movie I gone out and seen with a friend is 'Ray', about Mr. Charles. That is very good movie, and very good music to. I am wanting to use some music of his for program maybe next year. He was a strong survivor man, like many men here.
