'Ignore list' and 'Buddy list'

Just, I am curious, what do these do? If you add someone to your buddy list, what do that do for you? Or the ignore list? Do you just not get that person's PMs, or do you not see their posts on the board also, like 'ignore' in chat use to be? I just seen those before, and never know what they do.

Actual, I find out that ignore blocks post also. The person's name will still come up, but the 'body' of the post is not there, it is only a line that say 'You are ignoring this user'.
But I still do not know what a buddy list do.

Finally one I can answer  Very cool SAR. I laughed myself silly at this one - made my evening. I get so frustrated sometimes listening to discussions of these computer/software issues and feeling it's all gibberish. I yearn for a quill pen and inkpot sometimes! Much bungling, Larry

Larry, I yearn for a quill pen and inkpot sometimes! I find it impossible to describe the mental image those words spawned in my fertile imagination! J
