Healing the Healers: A Residential Retreat/Workshop for People Who Work with Survivors
Led by Mike Lew

Scargill Retreat Centre, Kettlewell, West Yorkshire, UK
The workshop will take place midweek, from 7:00 PM on Monday, June 28th to mid-afternoon on Wednesday, June 30th.

A time for men and women, professionals and those who work in the voluntary sector, to spend time together in a relaxed and beautiful environment.

It will:
  • be open to anyone who works in the area of abuse and recovery;
  • largely experiential, with a wide choice of activities;
  • emphasize self-care, relaxation, and play;
  • focus on overcoming stress, burnout, vicarious traumatization and "compassion fatigue" on personal, organizational, and community levels;
  • affirm the importance and difficulty of the work we do - and the need to nurture and protect those who contribute to human welfare;
  • create new support networks and reinforce existing ones;
  • forge links for the future;
  • be rejuvenating and energizing;
  • provide an opportunity to spend significant time with amazing people;
  • BE LOTS OF FUN.

In many ways, this - healing the healers - is a revolutionary concept. (I suspect that those of you who think you can't afford the time for such an event are the ones who most need it .)

Space for this event is severely limited. If you are interested in attending or want more information, please contact the organizer as soon as possible: Bob Balfour of Survivors West Yorkshire - survivorswy@mac.com
