Why was it you that drew me in.
I closed my doors to all of your kind, loathing and untrusting.
Distance between us could have never been greater, yet you never knew.
Something about you wore me down, the pounding of your waves eroding my defenses.
My fortress of solitude, quiet and shame besieged by your kindness.
Why you?
You glow a different colour than the rest, a curious light which I tried to ignore
I drew the blinds to shut it out, but the light was ever bright.
Who can sleep in the light of day?
From the ruins of my fortress I climbed, drawn like a moth to a flame.
I played with fire once and was burned, never again.
But something about you was different.
Why you?
Slowly rebuilt what I thought was lost forever.
He changed me for the worse; you fixed me for the better.
Sometimes I wonder how my life would have been;
Thinking back I wished it undone a thousand times, you’d be crazy not to.
Or would you?
Would I still know you like I do?
Why you?
